Following the dissolution of Local Government administrations in Rivers State, the now ousted Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA), Ezeubunwo Ichemeti, has officially handed over leadership to the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA).

The handover ceremony took place at the council secretariat, where Ichemeti formally transferred official documents and administrative responsibilities to the HLGA in compliance with the directive from the state government.

The event was witnessed by council officials and other stakeholders, marking a peaceful transition of power.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara had earlier announced the dissolution of Local Government leadership across the state, directing Heads of Local Government Administrations to take charge pending further directives.
Ichemeti’s handover signals the beginning of a new administrative phase as Rivers State moves towards restructuring governance at the grassroots level.
