President Bola Tinubu has submitted a ₦1.481 trillion 2025 budget proposal for Rivers State to the House of Representatives for consideration and approval.
Reading the President’s letter on the floor of the House, Speaker Dr. Abbas Tajudeen said the action was in accordance with constitutional provisions.
President Tinubu explained that the move became necessary due to the absence of the Rivers State House of Assembly, following the recent State of Emergency declared in the state.
According to the proposal, ₦324 billion is earmarked for infrastructure, ₦166 billion for health, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion for agriculture.
The President noted that the agricultural sector is projected to create about 6,000 jobs, and he urged the National Assembly to expedite passage of the budget in the interest of the people of Rivers State.
