As Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to use the sacred occasion to pray for the nation’s troops, leaders, and lasting peace.
In his Sallah message, the President called for fervent prayers for Nigeria’s security forces, especially those on the frontlines combating terrorism and banditry in the Northeast and Northwest.
“Let us continue our prayers for our front-line officers, who risk their lives for our safety and security,” Tinubu said. “Let us dedicate this sacred celebration to seeking God’s guidance and blessings for our country.”
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion through his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. It’s a moment for reflection, sacrifice, and faith—values President Tinubu said are needed now more than ever.
Beyond the spiritual message, Tinubu addressed the state of the nation’s economy, expressing confidence in ongoing reforms and assuring Nigerians that his administration is working toward long-term economic stability.
“Our administration will continue acting in the nation’s best interest,” he said. “There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all.”
While acknowledging the difficult adjustments many Nigerians have faced in recent months, the President insisted that “the toughest days are behind us,” adding that the country is gradually moving toward a phase of renewed hope and prosperity.
He urged citizens to remain patient and resilient, noting that economic indicators are showing signs of improvement and that the benefits of reform will soon be felt more widely.
“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere.”
President Tinubu concluded his message with a call for Muslims to live out the values of selflessness, devotion, and unity, drawing inspiration from Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during this season of sacrifice.
