Ceemore Faces Charges in Court for Alleged Nightclub Assault in Port Harcourt

Popular Port Harcourt socialite, Ikechi Maduba, widely known as Ceemore, has been formally charged to court following allegations of assault on a group of women at the upscale Black Box Nightclub in the city.

The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media for weeks since it occurred. Eyewitnesses claim that an altercation broke out between Ceemore and several women inside the VIP section of the club, escalating into what police have described as “acts of physical aggression.”

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that the state Commissioner of Police ordered a thorough investigation into the matter after video clips and eyewitness accounts went viral. As a result, Ceemore was apprehended, interrogated, and charged accordingly.

Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated:

“Mr. Ikechi Maduba, alias Ceemore, was invited for questioning alongside the women involved. Following preliminary findings, he has been arraigned in court to answer to charges bordering on assault and public misconduct.”

While details of the courtroom proceedings remain sketchy as of press time, sources say that the accused pleaded not guilty. The court also ordered that the women involved be placed under protective watch, as investigations continue.

The incident has reignited conversations around gender-based violence and the culture of impunity among influential figures in Nigeria’s nightlife and entertainment circles.

Meanwhile, the management of Black Box Nightclub hasnt released any new or fresh official statement but is reportedly cooperating with authorities to aid the investigation.

Rights groups and civil society organizations have called for a transparent judicial process and protection for the alleged victims.
