“A Threat Against Obi Is a Threat to All of Us – Atiku”

Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has issued a stern warning against any threats directed at Labour Party’s Peter Obi or his political associates. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Atiku stated:
“Let it be known that a threat against Peter Obi or any of us is a threat against ALL of us! -AA”

His comments come amid backlash over remarks made by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, after Obi’s recent visit to the state—remarks many interpreted as a veiled threat. Although Governor Okpebholo later clarified that his words were misinterpreted and focused on security concerns, Atiku’s reaction reflects a strong message of unity among opposition leaders.

The direct mention of Obi by Atiku signals an emerging spirit of solidarity among those outside the ruling party. While Obi remains in the Labour Party and Atiku has formally exited the PDP without announcing a new party affiliation, both figures are part of the broader African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, a strategic alliance formed to unseat the APC in 2027.

Their public show of support reinforces the coalition’s intent to present a united opposition front, emphasizing shared goals, political safety, and a collective resistance to perceived intimidation ahead of the next general elections.
