Nigeria’s D’Tigress battled past Mozambique with a narrow 60-55 victory on Monday, July 28, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, securing their second straight win at the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025.

After a dominant opening game against Rwanda, which ended 92-45 in Nigeria’s favour, the reigning champions faced a tougher test against Mozambique. Trailing 28-24 at halftime, D’Tigress mounted a strong comeback in the second half, taking control in the third and fourth quarters to seal the five-point win.

Murjanatu Musa led the scoring with 19 points, while Promise Amukamara added 13 points and six rebounds in a gritty team effort.

The victory extends Nigeria’s unbeaten run in the tournament to 26 games and confirms their place in the quarterfinals as they push for a record sixth consecutive Afrobasket title.
