US R&B superstar Chris Brown is set to kick off his world tour next month after a London court granted him bail following a charge of grievous bodily harm. The Grammy-winning artist, 36, was released on Wednesday after being held in custody since his arrest last Thursday in Salford.
Brown faces charges related to an alleged “unprovoked attack” at London’s Tape nightclub in 2023, where he is accused of assaulting a music producer with a tequila bottle. While he has not yet entered a plea, a judge at Southwark Crown Court ordered a hefty £5 million security fee to ensure his return to court. Brown was required to pay £4 million immediately, with the remaining £1 million due within seven days.
Taking to Instagram after the bail hearing, Brown declared, “From the cage to the stage!”
His upcoming tour is scheduled to begin in Amsterdam on June 8th, with a string of UK stadium and arena dates in Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow throughout June and July.
His next court appearance is set for June 20th, conveniently falling between his shows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. As part of his bail conditions,
Brown must surrender his passport when not traveling for the tour. Other stipulations include residing at a court-approved address, refraining from contacting the alleged victim, avoiding the Tape nightclub, and not applying for new international travel documents.
Brown will appear in court alongside his co-defendant, 38-year-old Omololu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby.
Known for hits like “Loyal,” “Run It,” and “Under the Influence,” the two-time Grammy winner’s legal troubles have once again made headlines as he prepares to hit the road.
