Drama in Makurdi: Chief Press Secretary Suspended Without Warning

In a surprising development, Mr. Lubem Terkura, popularly known as Aluta General, has been suspended indefinitely from his position as Chief Press Secretary to the Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to the Governor on Youth and Media Mobilization.

The suspension, which took immediate effect on June 15, 2025, was officially communicated in a letter signed by Hon. Terver Atu, the PSA on Youth and Media Mobilization. The letter accuses Terkura of actions that allegedly contravene the explicit directives of his principal, describing the behavior as “a serious breach of duties and the trust placed in [his] office.”

According to the suspension notice, Mr. Terkura is required to refrain from all official duties and is barred from representing the office or the PSA in any capacity during the period of suspension.

“This suspension is indefinite,” the letter reads, “and any further actions will be determined following a comprehensive review of the matter.”

While the exact nature of the actions that led to the suspension remains undisclosed, sources close to the administration suggest that the decision may be tied to internal disagreements over media strategy and representation.

The announcement has generated significant attention within political and media circles in Benue State, where Mr. Terkura is well known for his outspoken style and active involvement in youth mobilization efforts.

Meanwhile the state government has been highly criticized and condemned for not declaring a state emergency and also preventing protest in the state.
