As Muslims in Rivers State join millions around the world to mark Eid-el-Kabir, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has urged the faithful to reflect on the deep spiritual values the festival represents—particularly sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering faith.
In a Sallah message to the Muslim community in Rivers State and beyond, Governor Fubara emphasized that Eid al-Adha is more than just a celebration. It is a sacred time that honors Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and his willingness to sacrifice in obedience to God’s command.
With Nigeria facing ongoing economic and security challenges, the Governor called for intensified prayers for national peace, unity, and prosperity. He noted that now, more than ever, the country needs divine intervention and a renewed spirit of brotherhood among its citizens.
Governor Fubara also highlighted that the true meaning of Eid—rooted in forgiveness, compassion, and unity—should not be confined to the festive period but practiced daily in interactions among individuals and communities.
Speaking on behalf of his family, the Governor encouraged Muslims to recommit to the values of faith, sacrifice, and obedience. He stressed that these principles are key to building a more peaceful and stable Nigeria.
He also used the opportunity to call for greater acts of kindness towards the less privileged and urged the faithful to embrace reconciliation, let go of past grievances, and work towards healing and strengthening community bonds.
