Iran Launches Missiles at U.S. Base in Qatar, Airspace Closed Amid Escalating Tensions

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply as Iran launched missile strikes on the Al Udeid U.S. Air Base in Qatar, in retaliation for recent American attacks on Iranian nuclear sites. Iran’s state media described the operation—codenamed Annunciation of Victory—as “devastating,” targeting both Qatar and Iraq-based U.S. assets.

Qatar responded by closing its airspace, citing safety concerns. Explosions were reported over Doha, but Qatari air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles. No casualties have been confirmed by U.S. officials.

The Qatari government has condemned the missile strike as a violation of its sovereignty. The attack follows President Donald Trump’s announcement of precision U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, which reportedly caused major damage.

The closure of Qatari airspace has disrupted regional air traffic, with multiple flights diverted from Doha. Global leaders are urging restraint as fears mount over wider conflict and its impact on international stability and oil markets
