The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed Professor Entawe Goshwe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman, marking a new chapter in the party’s leadership. The announcement was made during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Professor Yilwatda, 56, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, takes over from Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State. In his acceptance speech, he pledged to strengthen unity within the party and steer it forward under the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We are all mechanics of this vehicle—the APC—and together, we will fix it and drive it to our destination,” he said.
His emergence followed a consensus nomination by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, which was seconded by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Other major decisions reached at the meeting included the nomination of Murtala Kankia from Katsina State as National Legal Adviser, and an extension of tenure for ward and local government executives until December 31. The NEC meeting was attended by top political figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and key APC governors.
