Rivers Angels Football Club have once again made history, clinching their 10th President Federation Cup Women’s title after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Nasarawa Amazons. The final took place on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The win marks a decade of dominance in the national competition for Rivers Angels, who have now won the title in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2024.
Reacting to the victory, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), expressed joy and pride over the team’s achievement. Represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, he described the triumph as “absolutely unprecedented.”
“There’s nothing like it,” Prof. Worika told journalists after the match. “We are proud as Rivers men and women that our girls can deliver such a feat, and we are proud as a government.”
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reward the players for their outstanding performance, announcing a ₦50 million cash reward for the team. Prof. Worika added that the government remains committed to fulfilling promises made to other athletes who represented the state at the 2024 National Sports Festival.
Team Manager of Rivers Angels, Mrs. Matilda Otuenne, expressed appreciation to the state government and fans for their unwavering support, noting that the victory was a result of hard work, discipline, and team spirit.

Meanwhile, in the men’s final, Kwara United claimed their first-ever Federation Cup title after defeating Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw.
