Rivers Police Declare Ahoada-East Officials Wanted Over Alleged Attack on Council Boss

The Rivers State Police Command has declared two top officials of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Chief Security Officer Hector Ekeakita and Chief of Staff Aloni Olodi, wanted over their alleged involvement in a violent attack on the council’s Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor.

The incident, which occurred on June 20, 2025, at the council secretariat, has sparked public outrage. According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the administrator was ambushed and assaulted by about 30 individuals. The attackers reportedly stole his phones and sensitive documents, forced him to sign certain papers under duress, and looted his office.

The police said Iheanachor sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The two officials are facing serious allegations including criminal conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, stealing, and attempted murder.

Despite being formally invited for questioning, both Ekeakita and Olodi have failed to appear, prompting the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, to declare them wanted. The police urged the suspects to report to the state headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, without delay, warning that anyone aiding or harboring them would face the full weight of the law.

CSO Denies Involvement

Reacting to the allegations, Hector Ekeakita, in an interview with newsmen denied any wrongdoing. He questioned the logic behind attacking his own boss.

“I, as the chief security officer, how would I carry hoodlums to attack the person I work with?” Ekeakita said. “I was never seen in the video. When I heard the noise, I was told not to interfere. I was in my office.”

He explained that the unrest was triggered by political appointees protesting the non-payment of their May salaries and claimed the confrontation had nothing to do with him.

The incident follows swirling reports of Iheanachor’s alleged resignation, further fueled by a disturbing video circulating on social media. The clip shows the administrator in distress, being beaten while unidentified individuals compel him to “sign that thing” and “put your signature.”
