The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that it is investigating a violent incident involving the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Mr. Goodluck Iheanacho, who was reportedly assaulted and forced to resign under duress last Friday.

According to a police statement, preliminary findings suggest that the attack was allegedly carried out by a group of about 30 individuals. The group was reportedly led by the local government’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Hector Ekeakita. Witnesses say the assailants physically assaulted Iheanacho and coerced him into signing a resignation letter amid threats and intimidation.
The incident, which has sparked outrage among local political observers and residents, is believed to be linked to growing tensions over alleged mismanagement and political divisions within the council.
In response to the allegations, Mr. Hector Ekeakita has publicly denied any involvement in the attack. Speaking to reporters, Ekeakita described the accusations as “baseless and politically motivated,” asserting that he had no knowledge of or role in any such incident.
The Rivers State Police Command says it has launched a full investigation to uncover the facts surrounding the attack and identify those responsible. “No one is above the law,” the Command stated, adding that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

The situation remains tense, with residents closely watching how the investigation unfolds amid concerns about the growing use of violence in local politics.
