In a bold move to revamp emergency services, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially commissioned a government-owned fire station located beside Isaac Boro Park/Mile 1 Flyover in Port Harcourt, ending 12 years of inactivity in the state’s fire service operations.

For over a decade, government fire stations in the state remained non-operational, leaving Rivers State dependent on multinational companies like Shell, Agip, and Chevron for fire emergency responses. The newly commissioned fire station marks a significant step in restoring the state’s fire service capacity.
The fire station, which has undergone comprehensive rehabilitation, is now equipped with modern firefighting tools and facilities to improve emergency response within the state.
Governor Fubara has continued to reaffirm that his administration’ is dedicated to rebuilding critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of lives and properties across the state.
Residents who gathered to witness the event expressed joy and optimism, describing the development as a long-overdue step toward better emergency management in Rivers State.
