Nigeria’s Super Falcons have advanced to the quarter-finals of the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a tightly contested 0-0 draw with Algeria’s Lady Fennecs in their final Group B fixture on Sunday.
The match, played at a packed stadium in Morocco, saw the Falcons dominate in possession and create numerous chances, but they were unable to breach Algeria’s disciplined defensive setup. Despite the stalemate, the result was enough for Nigeria to finish top of Group B with an unbeaten record and a clean sheet across all group matches.
Remarkably, the draw also secured a historic quarter-final qualification for Algeria—their first ever at WAFCON.
