Wike-Led FCTA Seals PDP National Headquarters in Abuja

In a dramatic turn of events, officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), operating under the directives of Minister Nyesom Wike, have sealed off the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

At approximately 2:06 pm today, a team of FCTA staff moved to Wadata Plaza, the PDP’s national secretariat located in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, and locked its entrance gate, effectively denying access to the premises.

This swift action comes on the heels of the FCTA’s recent announcement on Sunday, where it declared its intention to reclaim properties affected by the revocation of 4,794 land titles. These revocations were a direct consequence of non-payment of ground rent, with arrears reportedly ranging from 10 to a staggering 43 years.

The sealing of the opposition party’s headquarters adds another layer of complexity to the already tense political climate in Nigeria, particularly given the ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP and Minister Wike’s prominent role in recent party disputes. While the FCTA cites ground rent default as the reason, the timing of this enforcement is likely to fuel speculation regarding its political implications.

Details surrounding this developing story are still emerging.
