Wike Pledges to Lead Rivers PDP Campaign in 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared his intention to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Rivers State for the 2027 general elections, reaffirming his loyalty to the party despite his current role in the APC-led federal government.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike dismissed speculation about his political allegiance, saying, “I am still in PDP. I worked hard for the party. No one will take me from it. In fact, I’ll lead the PDP campaign in Rivers by 2027.”

He took a swipe at critics questioning his commitment to the PDP, challenging them to match his contributions to the party.

Wike also addressed his performance as FCT Minister, expressing satisfaction with what he described as bold reforms in Abuja. “The FCT is now working because I’m doing things others refused to do,” he said.

Highlighting his no-nonsense approach to leadership, the former Rivers governor said he is not afraid to ruffle feathers: “I take joy in stepping on the toes of big men — those who think nothing will happen. I show them something will happen.”

He emphasized that his decisions are based on principles, not fear of backlash: “All they want is for me to go after the poor and leave the powerful. But I say no — if you’re wrong, you face the consequences.”

Wike’s remarks signal his intent to remain a central figure in PDP politics while continuing what he describes as a results-driven tenure in the FCT.
