Despite ongoing reports of alleged anti-party activities since 2023, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike continues to assert his influence within the PDP. Many Nigerians are impressed by his audacity, while others question why the party has been unable to take decisive action against him.
At the recent PDP South-South convention held in Cross River State, Wike’s presence was dominant. Despite a high court order against the gathering, the congress proceeded, reportedly organized by his loyalists. The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) quickly distanced itself from the event, declaring that it did not recognize the gathering or any decisions made there.
However, Wike remained defiant, assuring delegates that everything agreed upon at the convention was final and could not be overturned. He reaffirmed the South-South’s position as the strongest PDP zone in Nigeria, stating that it had always been and would always remain a pillar of the party.
